    Neil Servis is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Serone Capital Management.  He has over 24 years of experience in structured credit markets.  Prior to founding Serone Capital, Neil was a Managing Director and Head of the European Structured Credit Agency group at Morgan Stanley based in London.  There, he was responsible for deal sourcing, structuring and arranging a variety of credit instruments and asset backed securities.  Neil was previously the European Head of CLO at Citigroup and a Director in the Structured Credit Derivatives group at JP Morgan Chase before that.  He has structured and syndicated a variety of innovative transactions for market leading credit managers across corporate and asset-backed asset classes, in both cash and derivative format and has built up an extensive global sourcing and distribution network as a result.  Neil holds a Masters in Finance from London Business School and a Bachelor of Engineering in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Southampton University.

  • Adrian King
    Adrian KingChief Operating Officer & Chief Risk Officer

    Adrian King is a Founding Partner, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Risk Officer of Serone Capital Management.  He has over 24 years of experience in fixed income and alternatives investments.  Prior to Serone Capital, Adrian also worked at Morgan Stanley, where he was an Executive Director and the Head of the Multi-Asset Class Group within the International Prime Brokerage unit based in London.  There, he was responsible for managing and developing the fixed income and foreign exchange platform for hedge fund clients, managing firm client coverage for top tier managers and advising hedge fund clients on best practices used to support fixed income investing.  Prior to that, Adrian was the Head of the Fixed Income Client Service Group at Morgan Stanley, which provided middle and back office functions for the fixed income client business in Europe.  Adrian holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from Sheffield Hallam University and is a Chartered member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

    Serj WaliaChief Investment Officer

    Serj is Chief Investment Officer for Serone Capital.  He has managed the award winning Key Opportunities Fund since its inception in early 2012.  Before this he had built up a decade of buy-side experience at KBC Financial Products in London.  As Senior Portfolio Manager he was responsible for CLO/CDO/ABS investments and trading, managing a multi-billion dollar portfolio that was one of the largest of its kind in Europe.  Prior to KBCFP, he held senior positions in structured finance and credit derivatives at Standard & Poor’s and Credit Suisse Financial Products.  He holds a Masters in Finance from London Business School and a Masters in Electrical Engineering from the University of Birmingham.

    • Stuart Chapman
      Stuart ChapmanDirector – Investment Research and Analytics

      Stuart Chapman is the Director of Investment Research and Analytics at Serone Capital Management.  Stuart has been with the firm since October 2011 and has worked directly alongside Serj Walia, the CIO, since Serj joined in February 2012.  Stuart primarily focuses on the evaluation, execution, and monitoring of structured credit investment opportunities and has additional responsibilities to coordinate the processes, tools and knowledge-base that underpin Serone’s investing activities.  Prior to this, Stuart worked at HSBC, first in the Americas ABS Origination group, but primarily in the EMEA Leveraged & Acquisition Finance group, which originates, executes and distributes leveraged, investment-grade, and infrastructure financing products for large corporate and private equity clients.  Stuart holds a Masters of Science in Financial Mathematics from Imperial College London and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Durham University.  Stuart is also a CFA charterholder.

    • Cecilia Yu
      Cecilia YuInvestment Analyst

      Cecilia Yu is a Trader and Investment Analyst at Serone Capital Management.  Aside from execution in the structured credit space, Cecilia focuses on asset valuation, investment recommendation, and trading strategy, primarily in European MBS/ABS and ABSCDO.  Cecilia started her career with Citigroup’s trading analysts program,  having gained experience in fixed income derivatives trading, she joined the Global Securitized Group to become a market maker in European and UK RMBS, NCF RMBS, ABS, and SME. She also gained risk management knowledge at JP Morgan in the securitized products area, including RMBS, CMBS, and loans. Cecilia holds a Masters in Financial Engineering and Risk Management from Imperial College London and a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics and Maths from University College Cork, National University of Ireland.

      Nick WilcoxDirector – Operations and Compliance

      Nick Wilcox is the Head of Operations and Compliance at Serone Capital Management.  He has over 20 years of experience in trading, business management and middle office roles within structured credit and derivatives at Citigroup, Merrill Lynch, TriOptima and Erste Group.  Nick holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Economics from Northumbria University and an Master of Science in Information Technology from Birkbeck College, University of London.

    • Hassan Jeraj
      Hassan JerajInvestor Relations

      Hassan Jeraj is responsible for Investor Relations at Serone Capital Management.  Hassan has over 11 years of experience in finance and over 7 years in credit.  Prior to Serone Capital, Hassan was a Founding Partner at a financial consultancy firm that advised hedge funds on effective marketing to investors.  Previously, he worked at Société General where he traded financial CDS in a market making capacity, primarily on European insurers with a secondary focus on banks and credit events in the sector.  Hassan launched his career on the Credit Arbitrage Desk at Bank of America based in London, which was responsible for trading European credit instruments including bonds, loans, derivatives and securitized products.  He holds a Bachelor of science in Economics from the University of York.

    • Jennifer Gregory
      Jennifer GregoryDirector - Business Development

      Jennifer Gregory is the Director of Business Development at Serone Capital Management.  Jennifer has over 13 years of experience in financial sales and marketing.  She launched her career in Derivatives Sales at Goldman Sachs & Co. based in New York where she was responsible for marketing multi-asset class derivatives products to institutional investors.  Jennifer was most recently working in Capital Introductions within the Prime Brokerage department at Deutsche Bank in both the New York and London offices.  Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Wellesley College and studied Course 15 Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

      • Richard Marchant
        Richard MarchantChief Technology Officer

        Richard Marchant is the Chief Technology Officer of Serone Capital Management. Prior to Serone Capital, Richard worked at East Lodge Capital, where he was a developer of the internal risk platforms and the statistical modelling of the collateral of structured credit instruments. Richard has also worked at Winton Capital as a developer, Bank of America as a model validation quant, New Finance Capital as a quant developer and at FIS as a project consultant on risk management and analytics software. Prior to finance, Richard worked in Tsinghua University, Beijing as a postdoc and lecturer and at Cambridge as a postdoc. Richard holds a PhD, MEng and BEng from Cambridge University.

          Alex Forrest is an Investment Analyst at Serone Capital Management.  He joined as a graduate in 2015 and completed Serone’s graduate rotational program in 2018.  Prior to  Serone Capital, Alex worked as a Summer Intern in the Finance Division at RBC Capital Markets.  Alex holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Economics from the University of Cambridge.  He is a 2019 CFA Level 2 candidate.

          Jonathan Kong is an Analyst at Serone Capital Management.   He joined as a graduate in 2016.  Prior to Serone Capital, Jonathan worked as a Summer Intern within Standard Life Investment’s Fixed Interest Team and as a Summer Analyst within Shanghai Commercial bank’s FX and Credit dealing team.  Jonathan holds a Master of Mathematics in Mathematics with Honours from Durham University.  He is a 2019 CFA level 3 candidate.

            • Mark Partington
              Mark PartingtonAdvisor

              Mark focuses on capital introduction, primarily relating to Asian and insurance sector investors. Much of Mark’s career was spent in Reinsurance with Aon where he ran the Tokyo reinsurance segment in the mid 1990s. He was at the forefront of the convergence between capital markets and insurance producing the first securitisation (Pacific Re) for Aon Capital markets in 1997. Having completed a Programme for Management Development at Harvard in 1999, Mark for a time worked for ACM in London, then raised strategic capital for a leading London market insurer, Kiln and latterly worked in the carbon markets as a consultant to Trading Emissions Plc; he was also an early stage investor in Climate Change Capital. Mark has also worked with a leading emerging markets manager, Polunin Capital Partners, in their strategic positioning in the Japanese market. Mark is a fluent Japanese speaker. Over the years he has developed good contacts in Japan at the highest level in business, academia and government including working with the British Embassy in promoting British financial product providers’ entry into the Japanese market.

              Sara is an Executive Advisor to Serone. Sara retired from Intermediate Capital Group Plc (“ICG”) in mid-2008 where she was one of Europe’s leading institutional investors. Sara co-founded the Institutional Fund Management business at ICG in 1999 with the launch of the first European corporate CDO. She took over sole responsibility for the business and investment strategy for the credit fund management business at ICG in 2004 and grew assets under management to EUR6 billion across a range of products including CDO’s, leveraged and unlevered funds focusing on European sub-investment grade credit. Prior to joining ICG, Sara worked as a Portfolio Manager at Bear Stearns International in London investing in high yield bonds, distressed debt and special situation investments. Sara graduated from Imperial College of Science and Technology in 1984. She was a founding member of the European High Yield Association and served as a Board Director representing the investor community from 2000 to 2007.

              Howard is an Executive Advisor to Serone. Howard retired from his position as a Senior Advisor at Morgan Stanley Investment Management for the Senior Loan Group following an eight-year tenure leading the team as a Managing Director. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Howard was a senior portfolio manager for senior loans at Pilgrim Investments. From 1982 to 1995, Howard was a Managing Director with Bank of America and Continental Bank in their Lending and Capital Markets divisions. Before joining Continental Bank, Howard was a Managing Director of Wells Fargo Asia Limited, the Asian merchant banking subsidiary of Wells Fargo Bank NA based in Hong Kong. Between 1974 and 1980, he held a series of positions with Wardley, the investment banking subsidiary of HSBC in Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok. He began his career with Barclays Bank for which he worked in the United Kingdom, Malta and the US Virgin Islands. Howard received a B.S. in history from Northwestern University and an M.A. from the University of Chicago. He is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and a member of the Economic Club of Chicago.

              Paul is an Executive Advisor to Serone. He is also a Senior Independent Director on a listed structured credit fund, which is managed by a large multinational financial firm. He was a partner at Reoch Credit Partners LLP where he worked as a consultant for financial institutions and advised investors, asset managers, intermediaries and software vendors on structured credit solutions. Mr Varotsis was Director of CDOs at Barclays Capital from 2002 to 2004 and Executive Director, Structured Credit Trading, at Lehman Brothers from 2000 to 2002.  He spent ten years (1991 to 2000) at the Chase Manhattan Bank and its predecessors; his last position was head of Credit and Capital Management (Europe Africa Middle East). He was European Chairman of the ISDA committee that participated in the drafting of the 2003 Credit Derivatives Definitions and advised the Bank of England and other regulators on the appropriate framework for the market’s development. Mr Varotsis holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, a diplôme from the Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris and a diplôme from the Institut Supérieur de Gestion. Mr Varotsis is a Trustee of the Friends of the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle, Paris.
